Heal Through Sound: Discover the Power of Vibrational Therapy

Using sound therapy to reset the nervous system, enhance emotional regulation, and support holistic health

Approach & Mission Statement

Somatic Sound is founded on the belief that sound therapy is a powerful tool for transformation—improving mental health, memory & focus, and physical well-being.

Through consistent guided sound immersion sessions, participants can deepen their mind-body connection, develop mindfulness and meditation skills, and empower themselves to identify and change habits that do not support their well-being. By creating an experience that induces relaxation and mental clarity, Somatic Sound helps individuals cultivate a more functional, happy, and authentic, and fulfilling life experience.

For busy professionals seeking to disconnect from work when needed, Somatic Sound provides an essential opportunity to quiet the mind, and reset. By integrating intentional pauses for restoration, individuals can step away from daily demands and return to their personal lives with renewed presence, balance, and clarity—allowing them to be fully engaged in the moments that matter most.

Meet the Practitioner

Serena Seyburn

After earning her B.A. in Neuroscience, Serena supported diverse research teams investigating clinical outcomes following traumatic brain injury and identifying effective pharmacotherapies for preventing opioid relapse, contributing to meaningful discoveries in neuropharmacology and cognitive rehabilitation. She has since gained extensive experience in clinical settings, working closely with patients and physicians to enrich her practical knowledge, refine her approach to patient care, and serve as a dedicated clinical supervisor.

Now a certified Sound Practitioner through the SoundEmbrace Institute, Serena integrates her background in health and neuroscience to support individuals facing various challenges that can be addressed with sound therapy, with a particular focus on cognitive challenges and strengthening control of attention naturally. Serena’s approach to use sound therapy to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and slow down brainwave states allows participants to enter a state of consciousness which allows them to strengthen mind-body connections, empowering themselves to recognize their unique cognitive processes and develop meditation skills to foster lasting growth.

I was honestly skeptical when I attended my first sound immersion class. I personally found it very difficult to let go in the first half of the session. Eventually, about halfway through, I could really feel the waves and vibrations of the sounds, most of which were good. I found myself immersed in a symphony of resounding tones and the sensation was extremely powerful and incredibly relaxing. There is an ebb and flow which carries you into a deep state of calmness and you lose track of time. Although I can’t explain it, somehow my muscles relaxed and I had a deep sense of gratitude and calmness at the end of the session. After class I suddenly started to cry, and I realized I let go of so much anger. With the vibration of the sounds you don’t have to try to feel better, you go and experience feeling better.

Sound vibration therapy has transformed the way I understand my own mind and body through a holistic, powerful healing journey. It has given me a stronger sense of connection to my mental and physical being in a way that is not comparable to traditional meditation, therapy, and other modes of healing. After working with Serena for a few weeks, she was willing and able to share with me her grace, passion, and kindness in order to work with me at a more individualized level. Together we have cultivated the best therapeutic experience to work through my personal day to day stressors, and deep rooted pains that have been untouched by traditional therapy. It has left me with an unparalleled sense of calm, and is always the highlight of my week.

What a treat Serena did sound therapy for my entire family yesterday. My husband, Three 12-year-olds and our dog and everyone absolutely loved it. The boys or my husband did not know what to expect, but everyone saddle right in even the dog and had a wonderful hour of relaxation.

The sounds from all of the instruments utilized in this class were both unique and beautiful. I didn't know what to expect going into this class. It was truly a meditative experience.

I’ve worked as a massage therapist for over 30 years specializing in trauma resolution and cranial sacral
therapy. I also have studied and practiced Kriya yoga, and Vipassana meditation for over 20 yrs. When I first heard of sound therapy I said yes right away. Knowing the therapeutic benefits of calming the nervous system I looked forward to the experience. I was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised. As the sound and vibrations washed over me I found it easy to entered into a deep state of relaxation. A smooth and gentle reset of my nervous system. After I felt peaceful and clear minded. I am able to calm my mind and meditate much easier. Finding a compassionate and highly intuitive therapist in Serena is a blessing

I am a highly energetic 65-yr-old female attorney. I am fast moving, fast thinking and chronically distracted.  I have struggled all my life with shutting down my thoughts and falling asleep.  After years of frustration, I was convinced that any level of meditation to calm my nervous system must be beyond me.

I was pleasantly surprised and blown away by my first session. My body was so relaxed I felt as though I just walked out of a massage. The results for me include:  intense relaxation during the session, improved sleep and ability to fall asleep, control to shut off my thoughts and thereby reduce anxiety and stress.

The sound is so pervasive and deep that I don’t try to “negotiate” with it to keep an active high level of consciousness. I feel the vibrating sound of the bowls seems to permeate the whole body. I’m shocked I am able to not ruminate about anything or feel anxious about what else I feel I should be doing with my time. I had an awareness that my breathing had a slow and steady rhythm that I was not familiar with, nor had I ever been mindful of my breathing rate before. The most valuable outcome of my first session was that I could focus and not have distracting or racing thoughts the rest of the day.  I was able to focus on one thing at a time.

About 6 sessions, I realized that I had learned to control the chaos in my head. I was finally able to meditate and benefit from it.  I became aware that I had been able to feel sleepy at night, rather than edgy and that I was actually falling asleep quickly on my own when I got in bed. I became aware that I can no longer arbitrarily decide that I am not sleeping, my body has found a better rhythm and I can’t start projects at midnight. I no longer have that high energy level late at night.  Most of the time when I was worried that I was over-wound or thinking about something at bed time, I knew I would need a xanax just to be able to get to sleep . After a few months of sound therapy, I was so surprised to realize that not only had I not needed to take xanax, I forgot all about it. I have not reached for xanax to relax in over a year, since first starting sound therapy once per month.

Somatic Sound has been life changing for me and has set me on a path to reach my personal health goals. After discovering sound therapy, I can utilize my own breathing and I feel immediate calming results and reduction of stress or anxiety, wherever I am, whatever I’m doing.
